You Me at Six

Like We the Kings, Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy? You're going to like these then.

You Me at Six, made up of Josh Franceschi, Max Helyer, Chris Miller, Matt Barnes and Dan Flint, is a British rock band from Surrey. These boys have proved to be incredibly popular, with their debut album "Take Off Your Colours" entering the UK album chart at no.33.

Starting as they mean to go on, You Me at Six followed their debut album with a second album "Hold Me Down." This album, which includes the tracks "Take Your Breathe Away," "Underdog," and "Hard to Swallow," reached no.5 in the charts - proving to be more of hit with their ever expanding fan base.

In addition to the two albums already mentioned, You Me at Six have released two more - "Stay with Me," and "Sinners Never Sleep."

Known for their passion and energy on stage, these guys have received some rave reviews for their live shows. This is definitely one of those gigs that you need to be prepared for mosh pits, screaming and a hell of a lot of sweat!! If your interested buy tickets quick - it is not uncommon for their shows to be complete sell outs.

Tour Dates:
April 24th. Best Buy Theater - NYC

Keane

A truly great british band.

Keane, made up of front man Tom Chaplin, backing vocals Tim Rice-Oxley, Jessie Quin,  and Richard Hughes, are an alternative rock band from Sussex.

Keane hit the big time in 2004, when their their debut album "Hopes and Fears" became the second best selling British album of the year. Proving to not just be a one time wonder, Keane followed this album with "Under the Iron Sea" which not only topped the UK album charts, but also made the top 5 on the US billboard 200 chart.

Now, fifteen laters, Keane have released their fourth album "Strangeland" (May) which went straight to number 1 on the UK album charts.

So what makes this "band with no guitars" so great? Well for one, like the quote suggests, Keane have separated themselves from all the other rock bands out there by the continual feature of pianos in their tracks.

Although regarded as a seriously awkward guy who struggles to create any sense of rapport between himself and the crowd,  no one can dispute his vocal talent. A seriously powerful voice that hardly ever falters, Tom Chaplin is in his own way the perfect lead singer.

With a hugely successful past, it comes as no surprise that this band has accumulated quite the following. Due to this I would say if you are hoping to get tickets you will have to do so quick as their gigs frequently sell out.

Tour Dates:
19th Nov. Usher Hall - Edinburgh, UK
22nd Nov. Waterfront Hall - Belfast, UK
28th Nov. Capital FM Arena - Nottingham, UK
29th Nov. Manchester Arena - Manchester, UK

31st Jan. Radio City Music Hall - NYC

Orbital

A truly fabulous duo.

As a fan of dance music, there is nothing I enjoy more than 'getting into the zone' and dancing along to the beat without a care in the world, or what others around me are doing or thinking. Once this happens you know you are having a great night and appreciating the music to its fullest.

Although there is a variety of dance music out there, one dance band that I can never get enough of is the duo Orbital. Orbital is a British electronic dance band made up of two brothers. Orbital first hit the music scene and 1989 but decided to go on a hiatus in 2004. It was not until 2009 that Orbital announced their return and headlined at The Big Chill.

I was fortunate to see this dance band live at Glastonbury, and boy did I love them. Their chilled out sounds although can be at times repetitive, were extremely captivating and had me enraptured. With the loud music, flashing lights, and packed crowd dancing, the duos set was epic and left me with a sense of euphoria.

If you are someone who doesn't really get the vibe or the feeling for dance music than skipping this type of performance is recommended. However, if like me, you love this type of genre of music than I urge you to get tickets. It will be well worth it.
